We Need Your Help, Again! 3.8.2026

This is from my friend, Ryan Thibodeau. Please help him if you can. Thank you!

My colleague and I are almost ready to submit an op-ed that we hope will generate support for our bill. As part of this, I’m hoping to identify some people who (1) don’t know the whereabouts of an institutionalized ancestor’s grave, (2) currently live outside of New York State, and (3) would allow us to include their name in our op-ed. Anybody who meets these criteria can reach out to me directly: rthibodeau@sjf.edu.

  1. All I have are success stories from the Gowanda State Hospital Cemetery, where I put in over 2000 patients. I get emails asking for more info& I can direct them to the Collins, NY Town Clerk for a death certificate copy.
Several people from Albany told me I was violating laws, but I put the names on find a grave anyway. I did the memorials just like I do for other people. I don’t understand how the state deny putting these patients on find a grave! How many thousands of names are held hostage, nearly impossible to get info for your own relatives ‼️Marta Cain
