Pilgrim State Hospital served the counties of Brentwood, Suffolk, and New York. Pilgrim was the largest state hospital in New York State. At its peak in 1954 it held 13,875 patients.

I visited the cemetery at Pilgrim about 12-15 years ago. There is footage of that cemetery in the video Here Lies? Abandoned Asylum Cemeteries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLlJSYWbvv0 A number of the graves in this cemetery have people’s full names on plastic name plaques attached to a cement marker.
